Name: Vicki
Age: Adult
Champion: Son & Students

My dyslexic champion and inspiration every single day is my son.   I became a tutor to help him when our education system continued to fail him.  I had to study Dyslexia online via the UK as at that time no courses were available to me here in Australia.

I was able to help him and I now have my own business and tutor 30 students a week. My son is sitting his HSC right now with only 1 exam left to go. We have done it!

He continues to inspire me every day. His struggles have been at times so huge that we almost couldn't do it.  His determination and courage make me so proud.  If an adult went to work every day facing the same challenges, struggles, harassment and humiliation, they would certainly leave & look for another job.  Sadly, kids do not have that luxury.  They must keep showing up day after day, week after week, year after year.

I work full time to tutor my son and my students. Their struggles are real. They all work so hard and are all committed to improving their literacy. My aim is to give them the skills to be able to fully participate in the classroom and beyond.  They drive me to be the best tutor I can be for them.  Every kid should be able to read.  I am committed to making real changes for every pair of eyes that look at me from the other side of the desk.
These kids are all my dyslexic champions.
